2016 Orange Chardonnay
Wine making notes: This Chardonnay was produced from handpicked grapes grown in a single vineyard located in the cool climate Orange region. High solid juice was barrel fermented in a mix of new and seasoned French oak puncheons. Lees stirring was carried out each fortnight during the first 4 months of the 8 month maturation period. No fining and minimal filtration.
Tasting notes: This Chardonnay has a bright pale straw appearance. It is a highly perfumed wine with typical regional characters such as white stone fruit, crunchy pear, honeydew melon, floral and grapefruit. Attractive spicy, nutty oak aromas complement the primary fruit characters.
A similar spectrum of fruit flavours continue on the palate of this wine. It is medium bodied and the light lees texture has helped produce a finely structured wine. The palate has balance, length and a refreshing finish.
